Update: A 44-year-old woman from Athens was air-lifted to Grady Memorial Hospital on Tuesday morning and a Loganville woman was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center following a head-on collision on Ga. 20 Tuesday morning.
According to Trooper First Class Cal Barton with Georgia State Patrol, Amanda Tippens, 35, from Loganville was heading north on Ga. 20 in a Kia Sorento, negotiating a curve, when she cross into the oncoming path of a Toyota Yaris driven by Kendra Marrero, 44, from Athens. The two vehicles hit head on. Tippens was taken by ambulance to Gwinnett Medical Center and Merrero was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital. Tippens was cited for failure to maintain lane, driving too fast for conditions, expired tag and incorrect address on license. Barton said drugs or alcohol were not involved.
Officials with the City of Loganville confirm that life flight was called in early Tuesday morning following a head on collision on Highway 20 at Sharon Church Road. The helicopter landed at Sharon Plaza. Details to follow.
