A portion of the road was closed off for several hours overnight Aug. 11/12, 2019 as Monroe Police officers and investigators with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations worked the scene of a drive-by shooting at a home on McDaniel Street.
“The call came in at 11:13 p.m. and we had officers here by 11:16. We got here in 3 minutes,” Monroe Police Chief R.V. Watts said. “We’ve recovered six bullets and nine shell casings.”
The GBI Crime Scene Investigation vehicle remained on the scene into the early morning hours of Monday as officers with MPD were checking other homes in the area for evidence. Nobody was injured in the incident.
