Man is believed to be homeless – no foul play is suspected
MONROE, GA (Sept. 19, 2025) Monroe Police Department is asking anyone in the public who may be able to help locate next of kin of man believed to be homeless who was found deceased Thursday morning. He was found inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the shopping center at 1219 West Spring Street in Monroe. It is the same parking lot that a man was found deceased in a camper a few weeks back.
According to a press release from MPD, John Ansley, 84, was found deceased at about 9:30 a.m. after officers conducted a welfare check at the location. The response was after a caller reported that while walking through the parking lot they noticed an older man inside of his vehicle with the door open. He did not appear to be moving.
“The incident remains under active investigation; however there are no indications of foul play,” MPD reported.
Anyone with information that may assist investigators with identifying possible next of kin or other family are encouraged to contact Detective Emma Parsons at EParson@MonroeGA.gov or by phone at 770-266-5160.
