Breaking: MPD seek public’s help in identifying suspect in armed robbery

The City of Monroe Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred on Aug. 13.

According to MPD, at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday police were called to 808 East Marable Street where a woman had been held at gunpoint by a shirtless, black male subject possibly in his late twenties. The victim’s purse and wallet were stolen. The subject fled on foot before police arrived. The GBI was able to provide a sketch of the suspect, which can be seen below. The object seen on his head was possibly a shirt.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and the public is advised to not approach and question the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Westbrooks at 770-549-6564.
