Update: Woman dies after allegedly jumping from a moving vehicle near Good Hope


In a follow up to the incident at Highway 186 at Moina Michael Road near Good Hope last night, Maj. Scott Whisnant with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office said that although the incident is still under investigation, the district attorney has declined to prosecute at this time.

Whisnant confirmed that a 57-year-old woman had allegedly jumped from a moving vehicle after getting into an altercation with a man in the car. He told investigators that the woman had allegedly pulled a toy gun on him prior to jumping from the vehicle. She died as a result of her injuries.

Neither the deceased woman or the man in the vehicle with her at the time have been identified at this time.

Initial story

After closing Highway 186 at Moina Michael Road Wednesday evening regarding an investigation that was being conducted by Walton County Sheriff’s Office, officials report that the road has now been opened.

Without giving details of the investigation, Maj. Scott Whisnant confirmed that one person has died as a result.

“The matter is still under investigation. There is one deceased person. Whisnant said. “I can’t release any further information at this time.”

Whisnant did confirm that no arrest has been made at this time.
