Breaking: Storms Tuesday keep public safety crews busy

Both Gwinnett and Walton County public safety officials are reporting multiple weather related calls going out all over.
“Trees down, power lines down, brush fires due to lighting, etc,” said Battalion Chief Craig League with Walton County Fire Rescue. “We’ve had 20 plus calls in the last two hours..
“The woods fire on Thompson Mill Rd was caused by the wind knocking over a burn Barrell from earlier,” said Capt. Jeff Allen with WCFR.
A witness reported a large tree hanging over the road between Monroe headed toward Walnut Grove, near Highway 81. Motorists are warned to watch out for downed power lines and trees in the road.
League said that there two cars struck trees that were downed, one on Centerville Church Road and one on Highway 20 at Bailey Circle.
Capt. Tommy Rutledge with Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services reported 12 trees down on houses from Stone Mountain, to Lilburn, Lawrenceville and everything in between, one house fire and one tree down on a vehicle in Snellville.
“At 3100 block of Dove Court, SW in Snellville.  Also wires down,” Rutledge reported.  “One child was in the vehicle, but appears (there were) no injuries.”
