Breaking: Walton County BOC delays budget process, cuts spending due to COVID-19

May 21 Budget Hearing has been canceled

The Walton County Board of Commissioners announced Tuesday that as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the BOC has decided to delay the budget process. The Board would like to address some of the concerns that the citizens have raised as well as giving the economy 60 to 90 more days to see if the outlook may be more positive.

At its June meeting, Commissioners will adopt a spending resolution for the month of July, which will be 1/12th of the previous budget. This will allow for the regular operations of the county while Commissioners continue to review the budget and the economy. This will possibly happen again in July. As a result, the May 21 budget will not take place.
