“She’s a great lady and doing great things in Washington. What an honor and privilege to be the only Mayor and Hispanic to be invited and present at her qualifying day,” Martinez said. “Along with our great Governor Brian Kemp. I’m working hard to get her to visit Loganville & Walton County. I’m also Senator Loeffler’s State Co-Chair.”

Loeffler takes on fellow Georgia Republican Doug Collins as well as two Democrats and an Independent so far who also qualified Monday.

US Congressman Jody Hice (i) (R-Georgia 10) qualified Monday, as did Democrat Andrew Ferguson who will be mounting a challenge for the District 10 seat in November.

In Walton County, the first to qualify for Board of Commission seats were challengers for District 3 and District 6, Wesley Jackson and Jim Robertson respectively as well as David Thompson for Chairman of the BOC. District 2 Commissioner Mark Banks also qualified to run for re-election, but neither incumbents for District 3, Timmy Shelnutt, or District 6, Kirkland Dixon, had qualified by the time the Secretary of State updated the qualifiers for the day.
