The Carver Middle School FFA chapter in Monroe, GA was awarded the Yearlong Living to Serve Grant of $3,000 by the National FFA. The grant money will go towards year long projects that addresses needs related to community safety, environmental responsibility, hunger, health, nutrition, and community engagement. The chapter plans to install raised beds and planters at the school garden, and donate the produce to Walton Wellness, intern benefiting the members of Walton County.
The National Future Farmers of America Organization, better known as the FFA, is a National youth organization of 653,359 student members in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. Their mission is to develop leadership skills, personal growth and career success in students through agricultural education. The organization operates under a Federal charter granted by the 81st US Congress.
The National FFA Foundation is a separately registered non-profit organization that recognizes the achievements of FFA members, develops student leaders, and supports the future of agricultural education. They partner with industry, education, and government, along with other entities and individuals to secure financial resources.
The Yearlong Living to Serve Grants are sponsored by CoBank, Tractor Supply Company, Cargill, Chevrolet and CSX.
