Challenges shaping up as local celebrities put on their dancing shoes for Project Renewal

For a second year, public figures have been persuaded to put on their dancing shoes to help raise funds for a domestic violence program serving Walton, Newton, and Rockdale counties. Project ReNeWal is a not for profit 501 c 3 domestic violence intervention program that provides emergency shelter, crisis support and services to victims of domestic and family violence. It has an annual budget of more than $900,000 and this local version of the popular ABC Dancing with the Stars show is put on annually to help raise some of these funds.

This year’s event will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at the Porter Performing Arts Center in Covington and will consist of local dignitaries performing dances that have been choreographed by local dance professionals. The tickets are $30 each and each ticket you purchase counts as 30 votes for your favorite star. Here in Walton County, former Monroe police chief Keith Glass will be partnering with Jiffy Helton Sarver, chief assistant Alcovy Circuit Court district attorney Randy McGinley and his wife, Charley, will be coached by twins Jade and Sinead Pretorius, Walnut Grove High School principal Sean Callahan and Jo Redford will also be trying to beat out the competition and Loganville Middle School principal Christy Bowman will be taking her instruction from Kim Malcom – and the trash talk has already begun.

The Walton County contestants won’t be alone in competing for the coveted trophy. Joining them in competition from Newton County will be the teams of Pam and Jim Stillerman and Liz Stillerman, Cindy Rehorn and Paula Dominy, Dr. James Adams and Sydney Reardon and Stephan Lindsey and Samanth Lunsford. Contestants from Rockdale County in search of the big win are Jamie Cabe and Bianca Roberson, Macy Gray and Nicole Duncan, Dan Morgan and Cliffany Friend and Marian McDaniel and Ursula Kendall – and they have some trash talk of their own!

Below is a recap of just how much fun the inaugural event was and, as was the case last year, it promises to be a fun-filled night that will show off the talents of local shelter supporters and raise much-needed funds in the process.

Look for more information to be shared, along with the videos, as the big finale approaches.
