press release from the City of Loganville

(LOGANVILLE, GA – JUNE 20, 2018) The City of Loganville will welcome the Loganville High School baseball team to serve as the grand marshals for the annual Independence Celebration parade. With their success earlier this year, the Red Devils are back-to-back state champions and secured their fourth state title.
“Baseball is as American as apple pie, and with their recent success, we are happy the Loganville High School baseball team was able to take part in our celebration,” City of Loganville Events and Marketing Director Kristy Peters said. “For more than a decade, this community has done a great job supporting us as we get an early start on celebrating this great country’s independence. And we expect another great turnout this year for both the parade and the fireworks.”
The City of Loganville’s Independence Celebration will begin at 4:30 p.m. on June 30th with the parade down Main Street.  The parade features many local businesses, civic groups and other organizations and will leave the field next to City Hall, make a right onto Lawrenceville Highway and then proceed onto Main Street.
The parade will have an impact on local roadways. Main Street will be closed from Lawrenceville Road to Highway 78 beginning at 1:30 p.m. CS Floyd Road will be closed from Highway 78 to Lawrenceville Road beginning at  3:30 p.m. Lawrenceville Road will be closed from Highway 78 to CS Floyd Road beginning at 3:30 p.m. All roads are expected to be opened no later than 8 p.m.
After the parade, the festivities will shift to the open field next to American Legion Post 233, where Funky Bluester will take the stage from 7 to 9 p.m. The American Legion will also be presenting its own entertainment inside its main room, offering air conditioning, cold beverages and music. Only VIP parking for the event sponsors is available at the field and parking at the Legion is limited to customers only. Those interested in watching the concert can park at the Ingles shopping center and make a short walk to the site. Anyone coming to the open field for either the concert or the fireworks show will need to bring their own chair.
Once the skies get dark enough – expected to be around 9:30 p.m. – the fireworks show will begin. The fireworks will be launched from the same field as the concert and, as in years past, the fireworks should be visible at both the Ingles and Kroger shopping center parking lots.
“This is only the third year we have had a fireworks show, and it was really cool last year seeing so many people joining together after the concert, at the Legion, in the Ingles parking lot and all along Highway 78 to see the fireworks,” Peters said. “But it is something that would not be possible without our sponsors, so we want to make sure to offer a special thank you to each of them.”
