Christmas Concert Sunday at the Monroe First United Methodist Church

At 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, the Walton Choral Society will present a Christmas Concert at the Monroe First United Methodist Church.  The concert will include choral arrangements of familiar Christmas Carols and an audience sing-along. Also included is WENCESLAS, a new multi-movement choral work based on the story and the carol, Good King Wenceslas. The carol Good King Wenceslas tells the story of his journey on Saint Stephen’s Night to provide charity to the poor in his kingdom (Czech Republic).
Among the ways the historical Wenceslas demonstrated Christian principles of Charity was by his providing help for his most needy subjects, and encouraging the rich to give to the poor. Those attending this no-charge concert will be given the opportunity to make a donation to F.I.S.H. of Walton County, a local Christian ministry providing service to the poor and needy.
