City of Monroe Blood Drive Friday to help boost depleted blood supply at Red Cross

This Valentine’s Day, extend the LOVE by extending an arm! The Red Cross coordinator for the local area has advised officials that the need for blood has dropped to a 3-day supply, which makes the call out an “Emergency Appeal.” A 5-day supply is required to meet the needs of patients, but recent storms and the government shutdown has depleted supplies. The Red Cross requires 13,000 units of blood every day to meet the need of the hospitals.

In order to help, you’re invited to join the City of Monroe’s Blood Drive on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 10 am- 3 pm at the Monroe Community Center, 602 E Church Street.

While supplies last, each donor will receive a bag of chocolate and a coupon for a free cup of hot cocoa courtesy of The Cotton Café.

To schedule an appointment, visit and enter sponsor code: cityofmonroe. Or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is encouraged.

Remember to Eat, DRINK plenty of water and Sleep well before donating!
