City of Monroe to hold a Public Information Meeting to receive input on potential new traffic calming features

The City of Monroe will hold a Public Information Meeting next week to solicit public input on new calming features to be considered for traffic issues in the City of Monroe. Engineers will be on hand with large charettes to answer any questions and note any concerns.

The meeting will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at the City of Monroe City Hall, 215 North Broad Street, Monroe.

After extensive studies on the traffic issues related to speeding and unsafe conditions on Church Street, calming devices that were installed last year caused a lot of consternation with people complaining that they were not made aware of plans until decisions had been made. This meeting will give residents an opportunity to see what areas are being looked at and what type of calming measures are under consideration. All interested citizens are encouraged to attend and to submit comments.
