Clear weather is expected in the local area as Friday night high school football season continues. Temperatures will be down near 80 when the games get under way.
Here’s what happening on local fields:
After losing to Morgan County 17 – 38 last week, Loganville gets a chance to redeem itself in the annual rively against Monroe Area High School. Last year, Monroe took the game, but this year it will be on the Red Devil’s home turf. Monroe, however, is warning that the real hurricane is not out in the Atlantic, it’s going to be in Loganville Friday night. The Red Devils play at home on Aug. 30 against the MAHS Hurricanes in the inaugural Freedom Bowl played in honor of the local three fallen heroes of the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts. The Canes are hoping to extend their winning streak after coming off an 18 – 7 win against Apalachee last week. Kickoff for the Freedom Bowl is at 7:30 p.m.
Loganville is the place to be for football Friday as Loganville Christian Academy play at home again on Aug. 30 when they take on Creekside Christian Academy. The LCA Lions are coming off a 47 – 0 win last week when they kept Bethlehem Christian Academy completely off the scoreboard. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
Walnut Grove and George Walton Academy both get the week off after last week’s GWA 37 – 7 win over Walnut Grove. The Warriors play again on Sept. 6 when they travel to Morgan County. GWA’s Bulldogs will host Stratford Academy at home on Sept. 6.
