COVID-19 cases at Walton County Schools decline after high numbers during Thanksgiving break

Social Circle City Schools also reporting a rise in cases

Walton County School District reported the numbers of COVID-19 cases for the past two weeks. They have broken this week’s numbers down to reflect additional reports from over the Thanksgiving break that were not reported last week.

“Overall the number of new cases from this week is in line with the numbers we have been reporting over the last few weeks. No individual schools reported over 10 new cases this week,” said WCSD Public Relations Officer Callen Moore.

Last week, from Nov. 23 – 27, Walton County reported 33 new cases, 14 of them from Loganville High School and this week that went down to 27 new cases. The week before the Thanksgiving break, LHS has 15 individuals testing positive.

WCSD has an additional 241 individuals in precautionary quarantine as a result of the positive cases. This represents 1.5 % of the school population.

Social Circle City Schools is reporting three new cases testing positive with 26 on precautionary quarantine. The quarantine represents 1.24 % of the school population. The week before thanksgiving, SCCS had no positive cases and 12 in precautionary quarantine.
