The following is a snapshot of the statistics reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021. Gwinnett County is reporting four more deaths, Walton County is reporting two more deaths and Georgia is reporting 35 more deaths over the weekend.
Editor’s Note: The numbers are usually lower on Sunday and Monday due to lower reporting over the weekend.
Walton County
Cases – 6,933 – 17 more cases reported in the past 24 – 484 in the past 2 weeks
Cases per 100,000 – 7,236 cumulative (505 per 100,000 in past 2 weeks)
Total deaths – 169 – that’s 2 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours (deaths per 100,000 is 176.4)
Testing 15.2 % positive in the past 2 weeks, overall 15.4 % (15.2 % of those tested came back positive over the past 2 weeks)
Gwinnett County
Cases – 76,106
76,296 – that’s 190 more cases reported in the past 24 hours (5,406 in the past 2 weeks).
Cases per 100,000 – 7,856 cumulative (557 per 100,000 in past 2 weeks)
Total deaths – 772 – That’s 4 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours (79.5 deaths per 100,000 reported)
Testing – 14.4 % positive in the past 2 weeks, overall 13.2 % (14.4 % of those tested came back positive over the past 2 weeks)
Georgia
Confirmed cases – 775,466 – that is 2,492 more cases reported in the past 24 hours. An additional 348 Antigen positive cases also were reported in the past 24 hours for a total of 2,840
ICU admissions – 8,601 – 46 more admissions reported in the past 24 hours. Hospitalizations – 51,928 – That’s 86 more hospitalizations reported in the past 24 hours.
Total deaths – 13,361 – That is 35 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours..
A total of 6,687,452 PCR/Molecular tests have been performed and 455,663 antibody tests. That is 23,176 PCR/Molecular test results reported in the last 24 hours. Of the these tests performed collectively, 747,779 (11.2 %) have come back positive and 65,662 (14.4%) antibody tests have come back positive. Today 3,081 (13.3 %) PCR/Molecular tests came back positive.
Walton County Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities

Great Oaks, Monroe – 30 confirmed staff members and 65 residents. That’s no more resident and no more staff members reported positive in the past 24 hours. There have been 13 deaths, that’s no more reported in the past 24 hours.
