The following is a snapshot of the statistics reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. In the last 24 hours, deaths reported in Georgia have spiked. Georgia is reporting 77 and both Walton and Gwinnett are each reporting four more deaths in the past 24 hours for a total of 20 in Walton and 143 in Gwinnett County cumulatively. However, weekend reporting is traditionally lower, as was Monday, and that could account for the spike today.
The total number of tests completed to date is 657,068 of which 105,160 are the antibody test. 6,207 people, or 5.9%, have tested positive for the antibodies which indicates that they have had the disease.
Since opening up following the shutdown, Georgia has dropped from 11th in the nation for the number of deaths reported to 14th and from 12th to 18th in the nation for deaths per 1 million in population.
