COVID-19: Walton County Schools have 51 new cases since winter break

Walton County School District is reporting that since Jan. 8, WCSD reported a total of 51 (.32%) new cases districtwide with 400 (2.5%) individuals quarantined this week.

“The overall district quarantine number includes individuals quarantined as a result of community exposures outside of school. In an effort to continue providing transparent information regarding COVID-19 activity in our schools, this week’s report covers Jan. 8-14 and only includes cases of individuals who have returned to school or work since Winter Break,” said Callen Moore, public relations officer for WCSD. “As we move forward through this semester, we recognize that support from our students and families will be instrumental in allowing us to continue offering both in-person and digital learning options. We want to remind our parents and students that individuals who are sick, awaiting COVID-19 test results and/or have been in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 are not allowed to report to school, work or extracurricular events. We must work together to keep our schools open and safe in order to provide our families with options to best serve their needs.”

Due to staffing challenges as a result of COVID-19, Social Circle City Schools has decided to remain in remote only instructional model for Tuesday, January 19, – Friday, January 22. Monday, January 18, is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and it is a holiday for all students and staff members. the plan to provide face-to-face and remote learning options beginning again on Monday, January 25.
