A home in Social Circle was destroyed by fire overnight, displacing 10 adults and three children.
According to Social Circle Fire Chief Ken Zaydel, the call came in at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning, Feb. 26, 2017, on a house fire on Windsong Lane in Social Circle. Walton County Fire Rescue and the City of Social Circle Fire Department responded.
“When we got there the house was pretty much fully involved. The roof had fallen in and there was structural damage on the back of the house,” Zaydel said. “Crews worked until about 8 a.m. this morning.”
Zaydel said that an occupant in the home woke up and was able to notify everybody and get them out when she realized that the house was on fire. He said multiple calls on the fire came in to the 911 center from neighbors as well as from the people in the home.

“Everybody got out fine without injury, Zaydel said. “There were several dogs in the home and not all of them survived.”
Zaydel said the house is a total loss. The family was assisted this morning by the Red Cross and had already been in touch with the insurance company.
Zaydel said the cause of the fire is not clear at the moment and is under investigation by the state fire marshal.
