There is a Seminar for parents and guardians of special needs children or adults to help provide them with the resources available in the community. This will take place from 6:15 – 8 p.m. tonight, Jan. 22, 2019 at the Praise Center 1857 US-78 in Monroe.
“There will be tables set up, most of them with people, but if not with information that can be picked up, and we will have five speakers,” said Kim Wages, one of the organizers of the event. “This is the second year that the Praise Center has let us have this seminar here and it is the perfect location for it.”
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for people to gather information and speak to the people manning the tables and then dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
“We will have dinner and childcare will available. We want people to be free get the information they need,” Wages said.
The program includes the following speakers:
“Early Intervention” by parent mentor Bonnie Morris
“Guardianship” by Julie Kegley
“Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation” by Angela Browning/Ron Burse
“Medicaid Waivers” by Cassie Taylor
“Transition to Adult Healthcare” by Sharifa Peart
There also will be a time at the end for questions from the audience.
