Entering auto suspect arrested in Monroe following pursuit and wreck

Monroe Police Department is reporting on its Facebook page an arrest and recovery of items allegedly taken from vehicles following a pursuit and wreck around 3:56 a.m. Sunday morning.

MPD report that a call came in from a resident in Golfview Terrace off Ammons Bridge Road that a suspicious vehicle was seen and two male subjects were allegedly walking suspiciously between residences. Responding officers came upon the vehicle as it was attempting to leave the subdivision and when a traffic stop was initiated by the police the vehicle fled on Amons Bridge Road in the direction of Michael Etchison Road. During a brief pursuit, the vehicle lost control and rolled off the roadway.

The passenger was apprehended, but the driver managed to flee on foot. Walton County Sheriff’s Office also responded during the pursuit and attempted to locate the driver with a K-9 officer. Several items allegedly stolen from vehicles, including two firearms, were recovered from the driver’s vehicle. The driver is reported to be a 16-year-old black male and the passenger was a 17-year-old black male. Neither is reported to live in Golfview Terrace.

MPD is thanking its officers and WCSO for its assistance as well as the citizens and residents who called when they saw something suspicious. The investigation is ongoing.
