Fall Fest fun continues in Monroe Saturday, including for furry family members

This weekend promises the first true early fall weather with highs of 75 and lows of 52 degrees and sunny all day. And to go along with the perfect fall weather fall fun continues with Fall Fest on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, in downtown Monroe. This will be preceded by the 5th annual Paws in the Park at Childers Park 5 K run and 2 K dog walk. Bring your furry family members in support of revitalization efforts at Childers Park. The park is located next to the Monroe-Walton Library on Spring Street. Registration is from 7:30 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. with the 5K set to begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the 2 K at 8:45 a.m

You can then head downtown for the annual Pet Costume Contest at 11 a.m. at the Historic Court House and the annual Children’s Contest at 1 p.m. Registration for the children’s contest is from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Prizes are given for the best costume in each age group for the kids’ costume contest.

Families are invited to spend the rest of the day enjoying fun activities for the children – many of the activities free.
