Fallen trees shut down Hwy 138 for a short time Wednesday for crews to clear the road

Update – At 4:05 p.m. WCFR reported that the trees have been removed from Highway 138 and all lanes are back open.

Crews are requesting heavy equipment to help clear the roadway

WALTON COUNTY, GA. (Aug. 14, 2024 – 3:45 p.m.) Walton County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Craig League is advising that all lanes of Highway 138 are blocked due to two large trees that have fallen across Highway 138 near Amber Hills Way.

“All lanes are blocked. Fire crews are on the scene with chainsaws. GDOT (Georgia Department of Transportation) has been notified,” League said. “Crews requesting heavy equipment to help clear the roadway.”
