Fire in downtown Monroe quickly extinguished by MFD

Capt. Jack Armstrong with Monroe Fire Department said a fire that was discovered burning in downtown Monroe at 6:45 a.m. Saturday morning was quickly extinguished by Monroe Fire Department.

“A passer-by discovered a fire burning on a trailer off Wayne Street behind the new boot store in downtown Monroe this morning,” Armstrong said. “Firefighter John Hall quickly extinguished any remaining fire.”
Armstrong said the no damage occurred to any of the buildings.
“The cause is undetermined at this time,” Armstrong said, add that many discarded cigarettes were noticed at the scene.
