Breaking: Five residents displaced and several pets die in overnight house fire in Social Circle

SOCIAL CIRCLE, GA (Dec. 13, 2023) – Social Circle Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 6.36 p.m. Tuesday that resulted in five residents being displaced and several pets perishing. The fire was on Oak Drive.

“The residence had heavy fire involvement when fire crews arrived. This fire displaced 5 residents who were assisted by the Red Cross. The occupants had several pets to perish in this fire,” Social Circle Fire Chief Ken Zaydel said. “Social Circle Fire was assisted by Walton County and Newton County Fire Departments.”

Zaydel said the cause of the fire is under investigation. 

Social Circle Police Chief Jason Guest said officers will be actively looking for additional animals from the residence during routine patrols in the area over the next few days.

“Almost everyone here at SCPD and SCFD have family pets, so we are hoping for the best,” Guest said.
