GCPD asking for help to identify suspect in movie equipment theft

(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  Gwinnett County Police  detectives are asking for the public’s help in investigating the theft of several trailers from businesses on Peachtree Industrial Blvd. between Jan. 11 and 14, 2019.

“Three of the trailers contained robotic camera cranes and other equipment used in movie production.  Security video showed the trailers being removed by two vehicles, a dark color pickup truck and a white pickup truck,” Lt. The suspect, Dewayne Antwain Williams, 49, is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bail.

“The white pickup truck and two of the trailers have not been recovered. None of the contents of any of the trailers have been recovered,” Smith said. “The driver of the second vehicle has not been identified.”

Smith said a green boom lift, which was on a trailer, two robotic camera cranes, and a custom electric car used for mounting cameras and shooting film are among the items still missing. If anyone has any information to share in this case, they are asked to contact Det.
