U.S. Rep. Jody Hice announced the third annual Regional Job Fair will take place on Friday, Oct. 4. Hosted by the Economic Development Offices of Greene, Jasper, Morgan, Newton, Rockdale and Walton counties at Georgia Piedmont Technical Collge, this year’s event will showcase dozens of vendors and hundreds of employment opportunities for job seekers. Hice noted that in the last five years alone, Newton County’s unemployment rate has dropped by more than 5%, and the local economy just keeps growing. Job seekers are urged to stop by Georgia Piedmont Technical College on Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The event is located at the campus at 8100 Bob Williams Pkwy, Covington, GA 30014. Hice noted that the district is home to such companies as Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Nisshinbo Automotive Manufacturing, Novelis, General Mills, and many more.
New this year is an application prep station for mentors to help with mock interviews, resume support, and job placement. Two mobile labs in RVs lined with computers will be on site for candidates to draft resumes and apply on the spot. In addition, a professional jacket closet sponsored by Goodwill of Northeast Georgia and FISH of Walton County will be free for residents to upgrade their business attire to help make a stand-out first impression
“Having a job is more than just a paycheck, it’s an opportunity to take care of your family and build a brighter future, and I encourage folks to stop by Georgia Piedmont Technical College on October 4th to see what opportunity awaits you,” Hice said.
