Georgia Gwinnett College launches AI concentration for students in Bachelor of Science IT program

Georgia Gwinnett College announced its introduction of a new artificial intelligence (AI) concentration within its Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program as students prepare for the fall semester.

“The AI concentration gives IT majors the opportunity to specialize in one of the most in-demand areas of technology,” Dr. Joseph Ametepe, interim dean of the School of Science and Technology said in a press release, adding students will gain hands-on experience designing and deploying AI solutions while developing the skills employers are seeking.

The program includes coursework in machine learning, data pipelines, model validation and responsible AI, with an emphasis on fairness, privacy, security and transparency.

“Responsible AI is just as important as innovative AI,” Ametepe said. “Our students will graduate with the knowledge to develop solutions that are not only effective but also ethical and trustworthy.”

Students will complete a portfolio-ready capstone AI project, preparing them for careers in one of the fastest-growing technology fields.
