GWA Bulldogs moves onto Round 2, Walnut Grove baseball season ends

The George Walton Academy Bulldogs were able to keep their playoff hopes alive Saturday in the 2017 Georgia Boys Baseball State Championship, beating the Brookstone Cougars in the third game of Round 1. After losing the first game in Friday’s double header to the Cougars 7-4, the Bulldogs went on to take the next two easily 2-12 and 1-8 respectively. Walnut Grove’s baseball season came to an end Saturday after the Decatur Bulldogs took Game 3 in the first round. After winning the first game 3-2 and losing the second 5-7, the Walnut Grove went down in a squeaker Saturday with the Bulldogs moving onto Round 2 after beating the Warriors 6-7 in Game 3.

The Loganville Red Devils already had their place in Round 2 after making short work of Lithia Springs on Day 1 of the playoffs at home in the first round, shutting the Lions down in a double header without allowing a single run to get on the scoreboard. With the 8-AAAAA Regional Championship already under their belt, the Red Devils easily secured their place in the second round on May 4. Click or tap here for a link to the Class AAAAA bracket.

The state Championship game is schedule to be played on May 25, 2017.
