Ethan Wootton, 19, of Lawrenceville was a passenger in one of the cars. He died at the scene. Weather and road conditions are believed to be a contributing factor in the accident. According to a report from CGPD, the two vehicles, a black Toyota Avalon and a gray Lexus passenger car, allegedly collided in the westbound lanes of Stone Mountain Highway west of East Park Place Blvd. Wooten was a passenger in the Avalon, which was driven by Joshua Chi, 20, also of Lawrenceville. Chi and the driver of the Lexus were both transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Stone Mountain Highway was closed for about 3 hours for the investigation. According to GCPD, the preliminary investigation reveals that Chi was traveling east on Stone Mountain Highway when he changed lanes to his right and passed a row of cars. When he changed back to his left lane, he allegedly lost control and crossed over the median into the westbound lanes, colliding with the Lexus.

At this time no charges have been filed and GCPD reports that further investigation is required to ascertain whether any will be.
