It wasn’t a good Monday morning in Gwinnett County for a 26-year-old North Carolina man. He was arrested after two alleged unsuccessful carjacking attempts and then being faced with an armed homeowner during a home invasion.
The Gwinnett County Police Department is reporting the arrest of Lamont Dickerson, 26, of North Carolina following these alleged incidents.
GCPD report that just before 5:00 a.m., on Feb. 1, officers responded to the area of South Puckett Road near Ridge Road in the Buford area of Gwinnett County in response to the first carjacking attempt. The victim was reportedly sitting in his car when the suspect allegedly opened the car door and ordered him out. Instead the victim accelerated away. The suspect then allegedly attempted a second carjacking by getting into a female victim’s car by way of the passenger door and ordering her to get out. She refused and Dickerson ran off before police arrived.
While officers were searching for him, Dickerson used a brick to break a window and gain entry into a home on Woodtree Lane in Buford. He allegedly managed to get into he home where he was then confronted by an armed homeowner. Dickerson fled from the home, leading police on a foot chase before being arrested. He is currently incarcerated in Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond charged with felony counts of home invasion, two counts of hijacking a motor vehicle as well as misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass damage and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.
