As we begin a New Year, we would like to wish all our readers a very Happy New Year. We wish health, happiness and prosperity to all and thank you for a great 2018. It was a special year for us. As we were rushing to press with our 10th issue of Walton Living Magazine in October 2018, Your Local News, Inc publishing company passed an important milestone – 5 years since our first online publication of Monroe Local News.

Since that first online story on Oct. 17, 2013 welcoming Sparrow Hill Inn, we have published thousands of stories generating more than 10 million page views, 5 million of them just in the last two years, and published those 10 issues of Walton Living Magazine. We are currently working on our 11th issue, Walton Living Magazine – Spring Summer 2019!

We began just covering Monroe, expanded to include Loganville and then combined into one Your Local News site which covers Walton County and spills over into East Gwinnett. Walton Living Magazine began publishing in 2012 and we purchased it in June 2014 and have continued to use it to highlight the wonderful lifestyle that Walton County has to offer.

During those first five years, we have got to work with some wonderfully talented people – writers, photographers, designers, as well as many in the local communities, including first responders, government officials, civic organizations and many community leaders. We have had the support of many local businesses and organizations without whom we could not have achieved any of it. We are truly grateful!

So what are the plans for the future! More of the same – only better!

We have some great ideas going forward, beginning with our “Rainbow Bridge” obituary section that we are adding for those who want to memorialize a pet that crosses over the rainbow bridge. We have a wonderful pet-friendly community and have been thrilled to be able to help get the word out when people have lost or found pets in our communities. We want to be able to give them the opportunity to pay tribute to that beloved family member when he or she crosses over. We are also looking at adding an interactive event calendar. If you have any ideas on what you would like to see more of, please let us know and we will see what we can do to add it to our plan. In the meantime…

Happy New Year! We are looking forward to great things in the community in 2019!
