SPORTS Photography Contest in conjunction with the Smithsonian “Hometown Teams” exhibit

EXHIBIT DATES: September 16 – October 28
DROP OFF DATES: September 8 & 9

Reception & Awards: Thursday, October 5 from 6 – 8 pm

From professional teams to pick-up games in the neighborhood, nowhere do Americans more intimately connect to sports than in their hometowns. The Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street program celebrates this connection in the traveling exhibition “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America.”

We are so thrilled to — along with the Monroe Museum — co-host this fascinating exhibit.  The exhibit opens September 16 and runs through October 28.

Let’s celebrate our homegrown sports here in Monroe with a competition of our own — a sports photography contest!  October is traditionally our month to hold “Monroe Celebrates Photography” so this is a fitting way to meld the two events.

First and Second Place Prizes will be awarded in these categories: Solo Players, Team Efforts, Young Players and High School Yearbook (high school aged entrants); plus a Best in Show.

Photos must be framed and ready to hang. Black frame with white mat preferred; sizes 8″ x 10″ to 20″ x 30″.

Entry fee is $15 for up to three entries for Members; $20 for non-members.

Contact us for a entry form by emailing hope@monroeartguild.org or call 770-207-8937.
