Hurricanes’ dreams of a Championship title end at Calhoun

In a repeat of history, the Monroe Area High School football Hurricanes’ dreams of a championship title came to an end Friday on the field in Calhoun. Although it was a much closer game than the 42-0 trouncing they received at the hands of Calhoun last year, the team went down 20 to 28 to the Yellowjackets in the 2017 Georgia High School Football Championship game on Nov. 17, 2017.

Monroe and Calhoun both went into the game Friday 10-1 for the season, with Monroe unranked and considered the underdogs. With the loss, the Hurricanes’ season comes to an end and Calhoun goes on to the quarterfinals for the 11th consecutive year.
