If you were in town this weekend, there was plenty to do in Walton County. There was a music festival Friday night at Lazarus, a Vintage Revival in Monroe, and a Hot Dog Eating Contest on Saturday at Cheely’s. Saturday also offered early Independence Day celebrations that began in Social Circle with a parade at 10 a.m. and ended at 10 p.m. with a fireworks display Loganville also got Independence Day celebrations in early with fun events for the family, a concert by Departure, the Journey Tribute Band and a fireworks display.
But if you missed out on the early celebrations, don’t leave town yet. There will still be July Fourth celebrations on Thursday, July 4 at American Legion Post 233 in Loganville as well as in Monroe with a family fun event at Matthews Park from noon until 8 a fireworks display at the Athens Tech Campus. There also will be July Fourth family fun at 1025 Church beginning at 6 p.m. with a front row seat to the Monroe Fireworks.
