The Loganville community is invited to assist in the second cleanup day for the city on Saturday, June 15, 2019.
“We had one in February and collected over 40 bags of trash so there’s a lot of debris,” said Loganville Mayor Rey Martinez. He is asking the community to join him and some other council members in the cleanup, which also helps fulfill a state requirement to comply with stormwater management. “This Saturday community cleanup benefits the city in many ways.”
Martinez called on the director of Loganville Utilities, Chris Yancy, to explain that when he heard about the cleanup project, he got with the mayor and asked to piggyback and use it as a community outreach project to satisfy one of the requirements of Georgia’s Stormwater Management Plan.
“We need to show community involvement. This year when we did our stormwater plan we needed more activity for community outreach because of our population,” Yancey said. “The mayor had come up with this Keep Loganville Beautiful event – we got with him and if the stormwater piggybacks with him, we can use this as a community outreach.”
The community is encouraged to meet at City Hall in Loganville at 9 a.m. on Saturday and help the city reach the requirements of the state, and Keep Loganville Beautiful in the process. City Hall is located at 4303 Lawrenceville Road.
