Leggett & Platt invites community to celebrate Manufacturing Day 2017

In honor of Manufacturing Day 2017, Monroe Spring, a local division of Leggett & Platt in Monroe, is inviting the local community to celebrate it with them on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., members of the community are invited to drop in for a tour, refreshments and some presentations by special guests, including Secretary of State Brian Kemp and other local dignitaries. There is no charge for this event and the  tour is open to the public. However, no high heeled shoes are recommended and closed-toed shoes are mandatory if you wish to participate in the tour.

More than 250 Walton County high school students have been invited in the afternoon to learn about a career in manufacturing. Manufacturers across the world celebrate Manufacturing Day, usually on the first Friday in October. Leggett & Platt is just celebrating a day early. The day is set aside to educate the public about manufacturing. It began in 2012 as a way to celebrate modern manufacturing.

Leggett & Platt is a manufacturer that “conceives, designs and produces a broad variety of engineered components and products for customers worldwide.” These include box springs, innersprings, fiber comfort layers, shelving and more. It is located at 1000 L & P Parkway in Monroe.
