After winning the 2017 Class 5A Georgia High School Baseball State Championshop last month, Loganville High School baseball coach Jeff Segars and Loganville Red Devils Varsity pitcher Bay Witcher are currently attending the annual Braves 400 Fan Club’s All-Star Luncheon. Witcher joins an elite group of athletes who have been named 2017 High School All Stars following this year’s successful baseball season. This honor qualified both Witcher and Segars for a shot at Player of the Year and Coach of the Year respectively. Witcher will get a plaque naming him an All-Star just for the nomination.

After getting close last year, this year the Red Devils brought the Championship home, beating the Wayne County Yellow Jackets in two games straight in the finals of the 2017 Georgia High School Class 5A Baseball finals at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Ga. on May 25. The Red Devils shut out the Yellow Jackets 3-0 in Game 1 of the final and managed them to hold them to just two runs, winning the second game 3-2 to clinch the title.

The City of Loganville is hoping to be able to honor the team for its successful season and championship win at the June City Council meeting.
