LHS Red Devils shut out Lithia Springs to move onto Round 2 of the playoffs

The Loganville Red Devils made short work of Lithia Springs Thursday in the first round of the 2017 Georgia High School Baseball Championship playoffs, shutting the Lions down in a double header without allowing a single run to get on the scoreboard. The 8-AAAAA regional champs easily took the first game 13-0 and the second 15-0, negating the need for a third game and moving safely onto the second round. On May 4, Loganville takes on the winner of today’s game between Ola or South Effingham, again with home field advantage. A third game, if necessary, will be played on May 5.

Walnut Grove and George Walton Academy hope to be able to follow the Red Devils into Round 2, but they still have to prove themselves in the 1st round. The Walnut Grove Warriors travel to Decatur to take on the Bulldogs on Friday, April 28, for the first of two games to begin at 5 p.m. The second game will follow at 7 p.m. and, if necessary, a third game will be played on Saturday at 1 p.m. Click or tap here for a link to the Class AAAAA bracket.
