LHS Segars named All star baseball Coach of the Year

After winning the 2017 Class 5A Georgia High School Baseball State Championship last month, Loganville High School baseball coach Jeff Segars was selected as Braves 400 Club All Star Coach of the Year at the annual All Star Luncheon on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. (Correction: An earlier version incorrectly stated that Bay Witcher also won Player of the Year. He was named an All Star player but did not win Player of the Year.)

After getting close last year, Segars successfully led the Red Devils Varsity baseball team again in 2017 as they brought home the state Championship to Loganville High School. The Red Devils beat the Wayne County Yellow Jackets in two games straight in the finals of the 2017 Georgia High School Class 5A Baseball Championship at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Ga. on May 25.

Witcher joined 14 other Georgia baseball players last month in being selected as an All Star by the Braves 400 Club. Having Segars selected Coach of the Year tops off a highly successful baseball season for Loganville High School. The City of Loganville is hoping to be able to honor the team for its successful season and championship win at the June City Council meeting.
