LifeSouth is in emergency need for blood donors

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers faces emergency need for all blood types and is asking the community to donate blood.

According to a press release from LifeSouth, the winter storms and holidays have taken a toll on the community’s blood supply. This raises the need for more donors to ensure that patients in local hospitals have the blood needed to fight illnesses and survive. First time donors are welcome.

All blood types are needed, and all donors receive a thank you gift, and a mini-physical, including blood pressure, temperature, iron level and cholesterol screen. Donors must be at least 17 or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo ID is needed.
