Many people in and around the Atlanta area were up overnight March 19/20 2018 as strong storms passed through the area, but according to Walton County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief David Jarret, Walton County managed to miss being largely impacted by it. However, a lightning strike did cause a fire in a home just north of Loganville. Walton County Fire Rescue and the City of Loganville Fire Department responded to the call of a fire in a home on Meredith Drive off Shiloh Road.
“Walton and Loganville fire did an outstanding job stopping the fire in the basement and controlling it as the fire extended to the first floor and caused major structural damage,” Jarrett said.
