“We are establishing a Georgia author corner in the gift shop that should be in full swing in time for the holidays. The authors today included members of our Walton Writers group and other local authors,” said Barbara Barth, a local author from Social Circle. “We have started a writing group that meets the first Thursday of each month at the Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts at 6:30 p.m.. Information can be found on our Meet-Up page –  https://www.meetup.com/Walton-Writers/

Barth and Monroe Author Tori Bailey were founders of this writers group.

“Plans for the new year include workshops, author talks, open mic nights, and an anthology to benefit First Book, a non-profit that places books in the hands of children who may not be able to get books on their own. This is a Valentine’s anthology to be a Kindle edition the first of February,” Barth said. “Our hope is to put Monroe on the map as a writers haven for authors and readers.”
