When Community Week rolls around, you are likely to find public officials doing more than fighting fires, writing tickets or locking up bad guys. Recently Creative Learning in Monroe had the benefit of several agencies stopping by to let the young students know that police and firemen really are the good guys. Monroe Police and Fire departments as well as Trooper First Class Cal Barton of Georgia State Patrol dropped by on different days to talk to the students and give them the opportunity to ask questions.
“It was Community Week and Pre-K Day,” Barton said. “We really do more than just write tickets and investigate crashes.”
While he did give them the opportunity to ask questions, the young students were more interested in telling him about things that were important in their lives.
