Loganville and Monroe make it into Top 50 of Georgia’s Safest Cities list

Although neither made it into the Top 20 Safest Georgia Cities (population 10,000 or above), both Loganville and Monroe made it into the Top 50, according to a study by Georgia’s Home Security.

Loganville just missed the Top 20, coming in at No. 21, and Monroe just made it, moving into the Top 50 at No. 50.

To calculate the most secure towns and cities throughout Georgia, Georgia’s Home Security team used data from the most recent (2017) FBI Uniform Crime Report, only considering data from towns and cities with more than 10,000 residents who reported crime data to the FBI. The team considered both violent (aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft) and weighted the figures in order to reflect the seriousness of criminal activity. Property crimes carried .50 percent and were added to the violent crimes and the result divided by the population of the city. The results were then weighted to reflect a comparison of criminal offenses per 100,000 population. Cities under 10,000 and those that do not report to the FBI were not considered for the study. It also needs to be noted that even within certain cities, crime varies from one neighborhood to the next.

None of the other cities in Walton County, including Social Circle, had a population big enough to be considered for the study.

John’s Creek, with a population of 85,048, was named the No. 1 Safest City in Georgia by the Georgia Home Security Team. Click or Tap on this link for the full list of Top 50 Safest Cities.
