The City of Loganville has announced its first new event for 2021 – a Battle of the Bands Rock Festival! The city is partnering with the Loganville Development Authority to put together this inaugural event with hopes that it will continue for years to come.
“If this goes well, and is well received, we’re hoping for this event to become a yearly event to support musicians and the businesses in our community,” said Branden Whitfield, Vice President of the LDA. “This idea came up at a meeting with Robbie (Schwartz), Kristy (Daniel) and myself about doing a combined event with us at the LDA. They wanted to do something to support the arts in loganville. Robbie mentioned we could host a battle of the bands to give local musicians a stage to perform and showcase their talents and we at the LDA were sold. Not only in supporting the arts, but having an event like this can help local businesses because of increased foot traffic in and around main street, with the potential of drawing in more customers.”
The winning band will earn a $1,000 contract to perform at this year’s Autumn Fest in Loganville – and all genres are welcome to sign up.
“The idea behind this whole event is to celebrate local musicians, so we welcome all styles and genres,” Whitfield said. “We are charging the bands a $25 application fee. As for the event itself, we are thinking $5 for those over 6 years old. But that is really going to depend on how many bands we end up having.”
Plans are for the inaugural event to take place from noon to 8 p.m. on May 1, 2021 on the field next to City Hall. Applications for bands can be found online at www.loganvilleevents.com under the Concerts header or email email@example.com.
