No suspect is currently in custody
The investigation of the shooting at a Loganville CVS remains open and ongoing, Loganville Police Chief Dick Lowry said Monday.
“I am fully aware that there is a great deal of attention and concern regarding the Homicide investigation that resulted from the incident at CVS on Nov. 14,” Lowry said. “Our detectives are working tirelessly to bring this case to a successful resolution and deliver justice for the family of the victim. We have received, and continue to receive, valuable investigative assistance from our partners at the Monroe Police Department, Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Walton County District Attorney’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the United States Secret Service. We are leaving no stone unturned, and no investigative lead unfollowed. This is very much a joint effort, and the highest possible priority for all those involved.”
Lowry said there is no one currently in custody for the crime, but they continue to search.
“As most of you probably saw reported, a person of interest was detained early in this investigation,” Lowry said. “There was not sufficient probable cause at that time to make a formal arrest, but that has not reduced our efforts to make an arrest in this case and ensure the offender faces the full weight of the Walton County judicial system.
“Due to the sensitive nature of this case, and in an effort to fully protect the integrity of our investigative efforts, release of information has been very limited. That is by design, and that decision rests solely on me. The stakes are simply too high for me to release information that could jeopardize this case.”
If anyone believes they have information pertaining to this case, the LPD asks them to contact Sergeant Clint Kitchens at 770-466-8087.
