The Monroe Area High School’s Varsity football team got some help from the sky this morning in advance of tonight’s playoff game against Dawson County. After a week of soaking rain, Hurricane Field was not in a good place to host the second round of the Georgia High School Football Championship game for the Purple Hurricanes. So they called in some help from above.
According to Dimitri Kakavelakis who snapped the pictures of the event, a Robinson R44 Raven Helicopter from BMW Aviation was seen hovering over the field for about two hours Friday.
“They brought in a helicopter to assist with drying the football field for tonight’s game,” Callen Moore, public information officer for Walton County School District said.

After beating Pace Academy 38-22 in the first round, Monroe Area has a 2nd round home game against Dawson County Friday.

The Loganville Red Devils, who also made it into the second round will travel to Carrolton to take on the Trojans. Kickoff for that game is 7:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed live at this link for those who aren’t able to travel to Carrolton.
