Man arrested by WCSO at Youth Middle School to be extradited to Gwinnett on armed robbery charges

Gwinnett County Police Department had asked for the public’s help in identifying two suspects in a series of crimes, including a robbery at Home Depot in May where one of the alleged suspects pulled a knife to force his way out of the store. The suspect’s photograph was circulated along with other shopliftings he and another suspect were believed to have committed.

However, it turns out it is believed to be just one suspect, and since his arrest at Youth Middle School by a Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy last month, that one suspect has been incarcerated at the Walton County Detention Center.

Terrill Banks, 36, of Decatur, will now be extradited to Gwinnett County to face 2 counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated assault and nine counts of shoplifting. He was arrested along with Philemon Gray of Lithonia after a high-speed chase down Highway 81 north and into Youth Middle School on July 29 that ended when a WCSO deputy performed a pit maneuver on the school campus.
